CrayonTales Help › Make a book
Make a book
An idea, a character and a reading level. The story comes first; the pages follow.
Start a book
- On the Books tab, tap + (New Book).
- Type the idea in a few words, or tap one of the suggestions.
- Name the main character and say what they look like, or leave either empty and the app makes one up. Famous characters are drawn as look-alikes.
- Pick a reading level: I Can Read for a few big words a page, Read to Me for a sentence or two.
- Type your child’s first name for the cover if you like, choose the number of pages and the paper size (Letter or A4), then tap Make My Book.
The first time you make a book the app asks you to sign in with Apple. It asks Apple for your name only, never your email. Your plan and its pages belong to this account.
The story, then the pages
The story appears first, one sentence per page. Read it, change a sentence if you want, then let the pages draw in. Each page is drawn in black lines for crayons, with its sentence underneath, and the cover carries the title and your child’s name.
Pages
Every page you draw uses one page of your allowance; the cover is included. The first pages are free. When they are used, CrayonTales Plus adds a fresh set every month (see Your plan and your devices).
