This policy explains how Polimati LLC (“Polimati”, “we”, “us”) handles information in connection with CrayonTales for iPhone and iPad and the CrayonTales pages on polimati.com. CrayonTales is for parents: a parent types an idea, and the app writes and draws a coloring book to print, or for a child to color on screen. Questions and requests: support@polimati.com.
Information stored on your device
Each book’s idea, title, character, sentences, settings, pictures and colorings are saved on your device, in the app’s own storage. They are not uploaded to us and not synced to iCloud or another device. “Report this page” is recorded only on your device.
Your account
To make your own books you sign in with Apple. We ask Apple only for your name, which you can change or leave out on Apple’s screen; we don’t ask for your email. We use Firebase Authentication, a Google service, to keep the account: an account ID, the identifier Apple gives CrayonTales for your Apple Account, and the name, if you shared it. If Apple passes along an email address (it can be a private relay address Apple makes), Firebase may keep it with the account; we don’t use it or write to it. Your plan and its pages belong to this account, so they are the same on every device where you sign in with the same Apple Account. The starter books, and books shared with you, can be colored, printed and shared without an account.
What goes to the AI services when you make a book
The app sends these through our own server, which forwards them:
- To Google’s Gemini models, on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, to write the story: your idea, the character’s name and look, the reading level, the child’s name (if you typed one, for the cover line) and the number of pages. When you edit a sentence, that sentence and the character’s name and look go to Gemini to describe the new picture.
- To DeepInfra, which runs the drawing model: a description of each picture, such as “a small white unicorn with a pink mane reaching up to a red kite”. It never includes the character’s name or the child’s name.
The drawn pictures come back through a private storage folder for your account in Google Cloud Storage. The app downloads each picture and saves it on your device.
Your subscription and page counts
CrayonTales Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to track your subscription: it gets your account ID and your purchase and subscription status from Apple, and keeps your balance of pages for the month.
Our server keeps a record of the pages you use: for each picture, your account ID, the kind of picture, whether it worked, and the time. It counts your daily and monthly use and how many of your free pages you have used, and keeps a copy of your subscription status and page balance. We use this to charge pages correctly, give pages back when a drawing fails, and stop misuse.
Each request to our server carries a token from Apple’s App Attest and Firebase App Check, which shows the request comes from a genuine copy of CrayonTales on a real Apple device. It contains no name or email.
Sharing a book
Share Book makes one file of a book: its idea, title, character, sentences, settings (the child’s name included, if the cover has one), pictures and colorings. It goes where you send it, through Apple’s share sheet; it never passes through us and carries no account information. Opening such a file in CrayonTales saves a copy of the book on that device; nothing is sent anywhere.
Emails you send us
Send Feedback (in Account) and “Need more pages? Tell us” open an email to support@polimati.com in your own mail app, or show the address for you to copy. The app fills in the subject and a few lines you can read, change or delete before sending: the app’s version, your device type and its iOS version, and, in the pages email, your plan, the pages you have left and when new pages arrive. Nothing is sent unless you send it yourself, nothing goes through our server, and the app keeps no copy. We receive what you send, with your email address, and use it to answer you and to improve CrayonTales.
Ads, analytics and selling
This version of CrayonTales shows no ads and contains no third-party analytics, crash reporting or advertising tools. Polimati does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as California law defines those terms.
Children
Accounts are parents’ accounts only; there are no child accounts. A child may color pages on the parent’s device. The coloring screen has no typing, sharing, links, purchases or account settings, and colorings stay on the device. We don’t collect anything from a child directly. The only information about a child the app can receive is a name a parent chooses to type for the cover, and anything a parent writes in a book’s idea or sentences. A first name or a nickname is enough; please don’t type a child’s full name, address or other details.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Books and colorings stay on your device until you delete them, delete your account, or delete the app. A book you shared stays wherever you sent it.
- Delete Account (in Account) deletes your sign-in account and every book and coloring on the device you use it on, and asks Apple to end CrayonTales’ Sign in with Apple access to your Apple Account. Books on your other devices stay until you delete them or the app there. You can also end that access yourself in Settings, under your Apple Account’s Sign in with Apple; the app then signs out.
- Pictures in cloud storage, page records and subscription records are deleted with your account: the pictures in your private storage folder, your page counts and page records, our copy of your subscription status and page balance, and your record at RevenueCat. We keep only an anonymous note that a subscription event was received (its kind and time), which no longer names your account. Apple keeps its own record of your purchases.
- Your subscription is not canceled when you delete your account or the app. It continues until you cancel it in Settings, under your Apple Account’s Subscriptions.
- Emails you send us stay in our support mailbox and aren’t linked to your account: write to support@polimati.com and we delete them.
Security
Every request to our server uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and needs both your sign-in and a valid App Check token. Picture storage is private to the app.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. A later version of CrayonTales may handle information differently, and this policy will be updated to describe it before that version ships.
